It is completed by printing out, cutting out the drawings, and assembling them. It was adopted in the school's art class at the suggestion of Nishibe Ryo, a teacher in the school's art department, and this led to the exhibition being held in peacetime for the first time in two years.

Kasai Daisan Junior High School (Edogawa-Ku, Tokyo) recently presented a paper craft exhibit of BAPE STA™️, a classic sneaker by A BATHING APE®, at its fall arts and crafts exhibition. This paper craft template was provided for free on the (BAPE.COM) official website back in 2020 when "BAPE®" was asked to refrain from going out due to the Corona Disaster. Print out the template, cut it out, and assemble it to complete the project. This was the idea of Mr. Ryo Seibu, a teacher in the school's art department, and was adopted by the class, leading to its first exhibition after two years.

At the academic presentation, approximately 600 original "Bapsta" pieces created by the entire student body were on display.

Based on Nishibe sensei's teaching that "you can do anything as long as you don't hurt anyone," many unique works were lined up, not only colored but also pasted with different materials such as artificial turf, stamps, and felt. In the classroom that became the exhibition venue, "Bape", who heard about this event, exhibited real "Bapestas" and the original character "Milo statue", and created a plate for the classroom.

The students were riveted by the classroom, which had a different atmosphere than usual, exclaiming, "So cool!" and "Amazing!" Furthermore, when the "Milo" costume appeared, the students cheered with loud voices, "Wow, so cute!" In addition, special awards were given to outstanding works, livening up the exhibition.

The arts and crafts project featured approximately 600 originalBAPE "STA™" made by the students.

"Please don't let it hurt anyone," Mr. Seibu told the students, and many unique works were displayed, including not only coloring but also attaching different materials such as artificial grass, postage stamps, and felt. In the classroom where the exhibition was held,BAPE®"heard about the event and created a display of real"BAPE STA™," alongside the "Milo statue," as well as a classroom plaque.

The students were glued to the classroom, which was different from the usual atmosphere, expressing, "Cool! " and "Wow!" with amusement. When the "Milo" mascot appeared on stage, the students' cheers filled up the room. While special awards were also given to outstanding works, making the exhibition even more exciting.

Nishibe says, "When I learned about the Bapesta paper craft, I was reminded of an American rapper I had seen wearing colorful Bapesta shoes in a music video. We study colors in the first class of first-year students, so I thought it would be interesting to let them color these. If I were to be greedy, I would have liked to see more interesting works, but the truth is, middle school students are worst at "doing things freely." As soon as you tell them, 'You can do whatever you want,' they immediately stop working. If they look at the exhibition and make something again, they will come up with even more interesting works. That's why I want them to see other students' work and feel, 'Wow!' or 'I never thought of an idea like that.' I hope this continues next year and the year after."

Mr. Seibu mentioned, " When I learned about the "BAPE STA™" paper craft, I thought of an American rapper I had seen in the past wearing the brightly colored "BAPE STA™" in a music video. I thought it would be fun for the students to paint these in their class, where they study colors. I would have liked to have seen more interesting pieces, but the truth is that "taking liberties" is something that junior high school students are not very good at. When I said, "You can do whatever you want," everyone's hands stopped immediately. If they look at the exhibition and try again, they will come up with more interesting works. That's why it's important to have them look at other students' work. I want them to look at other students' works and think, "I didn't know they had this kind of idea. I hope this will continue next year and the year after that."

In addition, looking back on this initiative, he continued, "For the junior high school students, the sneakers may be expensive and out of their reach, but it was an excellent teaching material for them as they had the experience of making something from a cool brand. Traditionally, schools have tended to exclude fashion, but I think it would be great if this could turn into a positive trend and foster Japanese fashion. I hope that as more and more interesting things from the world are introduced into school education, it will lead to good stimulation and experiences for the students."

In addition, looking back on this initiative, he said, "For junior high school students, these sneakers may be too expensive to buy, but it was a very good teaching tool because it gave them the experience of making something from a cool brand. Traditionally, schools tend to exclude fashion, but I think it would be a very good thing if this were turned around and Japanese fashion was nurtured. I hope that the introduction of more and more interesting things from around the world into school education will lead to good stimulation and experiences for students," he continued.
