In this workshop, where old-fashioned looms and the latest high-speed looms are lined up, skilled craftsmen and young workers are being trained simultaneously. Even with precision machinery, it is human hands that ultimately determine the quality. The feel of the fabric changes greatly depending on the yarn count and twist, for example.40By using double-ply yarn, we achieve both smoothness and volume. These detailed design considerations determine the final feel against the skin. Furthermore, by removing the starch after weaving, the fibers are able to absorb air, bringing out their natural softness.

The dyeing process is the most energy-intensive step in towel manufacturing.IKEUCHI ORGANICTherefore, based on the concept of "low-impact dyeing," we perform dyeing that minimizes the environmental impact to the greatest extent possible.

We use dyes that do not contain heavy metals and eliminate chlorine bleaching. Furthermore, to avoid chemical treatments that impair water absorption, we deliberately choose processes that do not rely on efficiency. In fact, in dyeing, the color only sets after about one application.60It remains at 100%, and the rest is finished by repeatedly washing and dyeing.

In addition, the dyeing process involves approximately the same amount as the material weight.12Twice as much water is used, but the wastewater meets the strict standards of the Seto Inland Sea.15ppmIt will be purified to a level that clears the following:2000In ton-scale treatment facilities, bacteria are used to break down water, returning it to nature in a nearly transparent state.

Prioritizing quality and environmental impact over efficiency is what underpins the reliability of our products.

The woven fabric then moves on to the finishing process.1Each piece is visually inspected, and the direction of the pile is straightened with a brush. While fabric softener would improve the feel, it is not used because it would impair the absorbency. As a result, the fabric becomes less slippery and more difficult to cut, but skilled craftsmen handle it.

The products are finished with meticulous care to avoid stepping on the pile, and then completed. There are very few factories in Japan that can manage the entire process from raw materials to the final stage.
